Job Opening: Executive Director
The Monroe (NC) Housing Authority (MHA) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Executive Director. The agency functions with a budget of $4.8 million and a staff of 12 employees. MHA administers 325 Housing Choice Vouchers, 39 Mainstream Vouchers. In addition, the agency has repositioned its assets from Public Housing to Project Based Vouchers (PBV) via streamline voluntary conversion, managing 173 PBV units and 33 RAD PBV units. The PBV units are currently undergoing substantial rehab via Multi-family 221(d)4. The Housing Authority also administers a Family Self-Sufficiency Grant (FSS). The MHA Board is composed of 7 members appointed by the Mayor. Monroe is the county seat of Union County and is situated in the Charlotte Metropolitan Area. The 2022 Census indicated a population of 34.9k for the city of Monroe and 240k for Union County.
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration, public administration, urban planning, public finance, or a closely related field. A master's degree in similar fields is preferred. The candidate must also have five years of experience in the administration or upper-level management of public or nonprofit/for-profit affordable housing.
Compensation for the position is negotiable, depending on the salary range, qualifications and salary history of the candidate.
